I would guess at least 50k...

rent $2000 - 4000 per month for 1-2 year lease
permits $1000-3000
tables, chairs, stove, even if used, etc $15,000
initial supplies $5,000 (condiments, napkins, etc.)
Promotions $5,000

Also- keep in mind that most biz take TWO YEARS to get started and make money - so you need to make sure you have enough money to live for that period of time and cover your costs - so you not only need money to start the biz but cover your life too.

If you don't know how much it costs I would suggest working for someone in the area who has a restaurant so you get a better idea of what it takes. Another biz rule- whatever you estimate costs to be DOUBLE it.

No. No. No.
You will need at least $100000.00 minimum. Restaurant equipment is expensive-even used items. You need start up cash. Have you worked in a restaurant before? What experience do you have in purchasing? cooking? bookkeeping? Do you know what all of the regulations from the health department and local governments? Do you know what taxes you will have to pay? Restaurants are like boats. You love them when you get them and you love them when you sell them. Restaurant work is extremely hard.
