Thank you previous replier!! DO NOT take St John's Wart, just because something is natural doesn't mean it doesn't have side effects and interactions with other medication. St John's Wart is a supplement that is particularly susceptible to interaction with contraception.

Go speak to your doctor about this form of birth control and see if you can find one that works for you. These symptoms are associated with contraception so it could be causing such things. However, as a previous person said - it could be more to do with lifestyle/attitude or a combination of both.

Either way, see a GP where you can find which one is best for you. Individual people react differently to all medications so see your doctor regularly about medication and try talking to your pharmacist about side effects and possible alternatives.

Good luck!

Well, any time you digest any type of drug prescribe or not will have side effects. Fighting with your boyfriend is probably cause men have to have sex every day and if you are not taking care of him in that way he will be edgy. (now us gals we can go for days with out sex) The Mood swings are unfortunately what us women have to deal with specially around that time of the month. Check with your doctor it could just be in your mind, cause you know you are taking this pill every day you have started noticing all this stuff going on that you never noticed before - you might just be more sensitive towards every thing. The side effects are always different for every drug as well as different for different people and your age too. Your doctor will need to be updated on how your doing, Although it has been 6 months your body still might need to get used to the drug (also take your pill at the same time of day every day so that it has been 24hours since the last one. So many other issues you could be allergic, who knows, maybe you need something not as strong or just a different brand or type. Make sure you tell him what you asked here -he might give your some suggestions or change your prescription.

Good luck, and welcome to women hood.

Probably the best thing you can do is stop blaming your problems on the pill. A lot of women don't feel like having sex with a man they're constantly arguing with. A lot of women also get irritable (mood swings) and eat more when they are unhappy, or in fulfilling relationships. You might find you feel a lot better if you switch boyfriends instead of birth control.

NO.....that is not normal. This brand of birth control is not working out for you, so it would be best to try a different one. There are tons of options available. Also, do not take St John's with the birth control as the other poster mentioned. Everyone knows that it can potentially react with the birth control and cause pregnancy!!!!

Good Luck!!

Extra St. John's Wort is excellent for the mood swings. But this is to be expected when you mess with the natural balance of hormones in your body. There are other forms of birth control besides hormones. Check with your local pharmacy/chemist and get something over the counter instead of this.

yeah, its very normal... if you want, you should let your doctor know and he could maybe give you a lighter dose.
