Sheldon began writing as a youngster in Chicago, where he was born Feb. 17, 1917. At 10, he sold a poem for $10. During the Depression, he worked at a variety of jobs, attended Northwestern University and contributed short plays to drama groups.
Sheldon was married for more than 30 years to Jorja Curtright Sheldon, a stage and film actress who later became a prominent interior decorator. She died in 1985. He married Alexandra Kostoff, a former child actress and advertising executive, in 1989.
The best-selling author died Tuesday at 89 at Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage of complications from pneumonia. His wife, Alexandra, was by his side.

I'm not a hardcore fan of his but may his soul rest in peace. My favorite Sidney Sheldon novel is "If Tomorrow Comes" and I like the miniseries even better. I hope they'll show all his tv movies on Cinemax or Hallmark to honor him (cos I really want a recorded copy of "If Tomorrow Comes" miniseries).

Yes and in fact it was a few weeks short of his 90th birthday (Feb 17th). I am a big fan as well and have read all of his books except Bloodline (which I could never get into).
This summer when I get back to the US I'm going to pick up a copy of Bloodline as well as his autobiography.
It's sad that we have no more of his books to look forward to.

I did not know he died. I have read many of his books and enjoyed them all. He had a fast paced style that kept the story interesting and mysterious.
