to learn calligraphy at home, the easy way is type alphabets in different fonts from the computer and then practice to write in the same style.

there are many groups/guilds all over the world that run classes and workshops teaching calligraphy and related arts. Know there is a very active group in Philadelphia... Go to this site and look up your area to find the closest group. You can also search for calligraphers in your own area... "Calligraphy (your town or largest city closest to you)" to find calligraphers near you. Often they can provide information or know where locals may teach. Books are okay but there are many points not covered in books and there is no substitute for a good teacher----if you have access to one.

1- naskh, bywhich the quran is written
2-roq`aa, a simple form of calligraphy
3-diwani,used in governmental departments
4-faresi(parsian),usen in iran and turky
5-solos,a difficult,but beautiful calligraphy
6-koufi,the oldest calligraphy,it has many kinds
