According to Wikipedia, "a weblog, Web log or simply a blog, is a web application which contains periodic posts (or entries) on a common webpage". In simpler words, a blog is a form of an on-line journal where the writer of the blog periodically updates the blog with new content. Blogs often are chronological, with the newest entry being at the top of the page. They also allow comments to each entry, so that others can dialog and interact with the content.

I think blog is one kind of diary, the different from the general diary, you write down the diary, and put them in the internet, many and many people can share what you write.
