This is for all organized high school baseball games starting in the 2007 season. They are the only state to do this now, which makes me wonder which state or city is next?

The Pro's use wood bats rather the aluminum because the ball does not come off the bat as fast and it gives the pitcher a split second more to move out of the way.

Since most high school pitchers don't have the reflexes of a pro pitcher, they will have a little longer to dodge the ball. So it is probably a safety issue, but those batters who use wood will have a bit of advantage when moving to college level since it will make them a better batter.

lt is very obvious that a baseball comes off of an aluminum bat much faster than a wooden one. The reason therefore, would have to be for the safety of the fielders, mainly the pitcher and possibly the fans. lt is also good to note that several other states have discussed the possiblity of banning aluminum bats in their high schools.

i don't know which of you guys are actually in high school, but i am, this is my last year at a San Francisco public school. My goodness, i would LOVE to use wood. Players playing for college would hit MUCH better with wood, learning the strike zone. When your in high school, you dint want to break the bat, you would rather learn the zone than keep buying bats, yes i know wood bats are very costly) remember, if it ain't wood, it ain't good.
