an unhealthy grief is when your cat or dog die and you take a week off from work to mourn. A healthy grief is when you don't have enough lettuce to make a salad.

One thing I learned about grief is that men and women grieve differently. My wife and I lost our son 15 minutes after birth. That first day was catostrophic for me. My wife was in denial and it didn't hit her right away. I have just noticed that men deal with it differently from women. My wife's grief counselor has also had to remind her of that.
You could easily do some research on the differences between male and female grieving. I think that would make for an intersting topic.

Here are a list of healthy and non healthy beliefs about grief:

1.) Non-healthy: When you write about giving up on life. Healthy: When you write about how you tried to give up on life, but overcame it.

2.) Non-healthy: When you write about something that is troubling you repetitively. For example: I feel like dying. I feel like dying. I feel like dying...ect. Healthy: When you write about something that is grieving you and telling yourself or the reader that there will be tribulations (sufferrings) that you will overcome.

3.) Non-healthy: When you right about death or your break-up in such detail, that just writing it will bring you to that moment of self-distruction. Your hurt will become deeper. Healthy: You write about your grief and explain why you are feeling so terrible about it, and again writing affirmations about overcoming it.

When you write about you or somebody else's grief, it is always best to be as supportive to the topic. If you need help in learning how others have coped in books at your local bookstore or library (a good place to look would be in the self-help/recovery section) you will pick up on helpful ideas that will help with your research on grief.

I hope that your search will resolve your paper on grief. It would be best to gather ideas, using a journal, to broaden your perspective on things. Good luck!!!
