Dr. Joe Swartz, R Mi. lost in the primaries last year to a right wing nut. He was I think fairly honest, as honest as anyone and lost. Honesty doesn't work that well around here I guess.

Maybe we should clone Abraham Lincoln & ask that he run for president. Then again, he'd lose since he's not media-worthy because he's unattractive and gangly. Seriously, I don't support his views on the war, but Joe Lieberman is an honest man, also I trust Jimmy Carter. He never has lied.

If an honest person is a person who never lies, then none of us are "honest".

And does being unintentionally dishonest disqualify one from "honesty".

I think Ralph Nader, though I disagree with him on many things, has his heart absolutely in the right place.

He doesn't do what he does for power, he does it because it's what he believes in.

Every politician is a liar. They have to be or they would never get voted in. Honesty? You might as well ask for a good source of water in the middle of the Sahara desert.

Lieberman and my Congresswoman, Ginny Waite Brown.

I think at least 50% serve their first term with honest intentions but unfortunately the system corrupts. We, the electorate, are also at fault because they promise us pork barrel spending and so we keep electing them.

They lie, get elected and deceive us. When will we wake up?

The more well-known they are the more corrupt they are!

Yes, but the problem seems to lie with all of them wanting to "Change" something. They could of changed too much or not enough so they got to do something to be reelected. Poor politicians!

The system isn't perfect. But people aren't perfect. The U.S. mode of government is a system of checks and balances, redundancies, which attempts to minimize people's inherent shortcomings.
