Radiowaves, also known as (RF) radio freqency fields, are a form of invisible electro magnetic energy similiar to light waves. The electromagnetic spectrum ( the range of all kinds of elctric, magnetic & visible energy) stretches from low frequency to radio waves, microwaves, infrared & invisible light thro' to high frequency x-rays and gamma rays.

For over a century, technology has enable us to use in devices we rely upon everyday life, including remote control, radio controlled models, electric & electronic equiipments, mobile and cordless phones.

The (RF) radio frequency used in mobile phones, is non ionising, which means that it passes thro matter, including the human body without altering it. The infrared sensor installed in the mobile phones serve manily as remote control for various gadgets, including data transmission.

Hope this helps you.

I wasn't aware of phones using infrared. However, infrared used in electronic devices is totally safe and totally invisible. You would have to be putting out light on a pretty massive scale for it to start registering as heat.

I am unaware that infrared is used in cell phones at all. It there is any there, there are federal regulations that cover emitted power and limit eye exposure. But, I don't think you have any infrared, so that is all moot.
