I think many of the respondants do not understand what a marriage of convienience is.

Ideally, I am against the idea. I think that in this day and age in the industrialized world, we need to stand and fight, not give in to the heteronormative, partiarchal world that denies our right to have our real relationships recognized.

However, I have known people who have used straight marriages of convience to overcome the obstacles faced by queer partners in immigration. As you may know, the United States congress recently voted down a bill that would have granted full immigration rights to gay partners (equivalent to the rights granted straight married partners) to people who earn U.S. citizenship.

i think you are just fooling yourself. marriages of any kind are not easy...you will gain at the beginning but lose in the end.

what is GBLT? if i knew this i probably could have given you a better answer... i was married three times and I know that for whatever reason you get married you have a chance of getting shafted..the third time was a charm but i got lucky
every now and then a blind squirrel finds a nut..good luck as that's what it all boils down too...life is a crap shoot...

well u should marry for love only. If u r just going to be with someone just to move out, a child, good sex or money then try this

" honey i don't really love you but lets get married because of________________(insert reason)" then c how long your marriage last, now if they don't have an issue with the real reason then get married because u hav a real fool on your hands. Once u get tired of being married and try to get divorced that is when the fun will begin

I havent actually met a gay couple that would consider being able to get married a convenience. Trying to find a place to do it would be a hassle and then not many recognize it. I think if gay people are getting married, it is for the right reasons and not for convenience.

Marriages of convenience provide nice benefits but only hinder our progress as a community. We need steps towards equal rights, not ways to slide under the radar so to speak.

Depends on what you get out of it what are the terms and conditions of the marriage and also who will be there to support you and help you if you choose to do something most people would disagree with.!!
