Norton crappy Insecurity again? What's going on here?

Question

Ran an online scan with something called Bitdefender, which found 3 viruses actually in thr Symantec files. A Wln 32 worm VB DW and two Backdoor RBot. EOG's. What are these things? What do they do? And why are they there? I may know nothing about computers, but I can see when something clearly doesn't work. Bye bye Norton.

Get rid of Norton - and that's not easy to do. Then if you want excellent protection that won't slow your computer down, get 1) Kaspersky anti-virus and 2) CounterSpy anti-spyware. You need both if you surf and download from the internet.

Usually you can visit the web sites of Anti-Virus publishers and they'll have some kind of encyclopedia of viruses which give all kinds of details on each virus. You can also just Google search the virus names.
Norton AV is a horribly bloated, slow program, but I don't trust these online scanners.
It seems more like a false alert if the viruses are only in the Symantic files.
Download and install a free virus scanner like Avast or AVG and scan again.

I personally don't trust online scanners or shareware (free trial then payment for the real version) because the scans are either are unreliable, bloat the findings or do not remove them. I suggest that you look at Norton's webpage and find the info and removal tools that would get rid of them. I use Norton myself and I believe Norton enhanced my virus security above McAfee. So keep Norton. Good spyware programs (seems to be your problem) are Ad-Aware, Spybot, and Windows Defender. They may take time do run them, I think it's worth it.

If you read these answer pages,you will see that many of us will tell you that Norton is expensive crap!
Get on the Symantec website and download the Norton Removal Tool,or you can get it from Major Geeks website!
When you have downloaded and saved the file, go to the Grisoft site and download AVG 7.5 anti virus free, and AVG anti spy-ware free.
You'll get all the updates free and AVG will detect viruses that Norton will never detect!

THEN DISCONNECT YOUR PC FROM THE WEB!
DO NOT REMOVE NORTON FILES, UNTIL YOU HAVE DISCONNECTED YOUR MACHINE FROM THE INTERNET,OR YOUR MACHINE WILL BE BOMBARDED WITH VIRUSES!!!!!!!
Then you can safely remove all Norton files from your machine, and install AVG anti virus and anti spy-ware that you have previously downloaded, THEN, AND ONLY THEN,can you reconnect your machine to the Internet
Then all that remains is to run the AVG updates!
