I have been to most of the major cities inf the US (except Omaha).
Many I have loved for varying reasons.
The excitement and attractions of NY,
the history of Boston,
the non-stop activity of LA and San Diego,
the charm of San Francisco,
the fog of Sacramento,
the beauty of lakeside Chicago,
the hustle of Vegas,
the sheer beauty of Seattle,
the horses of Lexington,
helpfull people of Billings,
the colour of El Paso and Las Cruces,
the friendliness of Atlanta,
the shops of Wheeling.....the list goes on.
But the best I've been to and the one that I remember with most yearning for; is Galveston,Texas.
It is just breathtakingly beautiful and exudes the relaxed atmosphere I so love.

Travelled a lot of the US, being Australian I felt very comfortable in the South due to the climate, and during that time I would have to say Savannah Georgia came close, the Pirate's House was great, but if I had a choice of the cities, try Colorado Springs, and for friendliness, and the Broadmore for atmosphere

I have 3...
1) Chicago (Lived there for 10 years. GREAT city. Very clean, very safe, lots of culture, very nice people, great restaurants, so many people from so many different countries...the list is endless). Less expensive to visit than the other 2 cities below.
2) New York City (exciting, fashion and financial center of the U.S. Very cultural, diverse, etc)
3) San Francisco (very cute girls, very nice people, beautiful place, very relaxed atmosphere, and lots of culture)

I really, really liked Seattle. It was beautiful and there was lots to do. Key West was pretty awesome too - hard to beat the weather there in February!

Define "best." Most cities have something to offer that others don't (or not as well.) Weather, culture, sports, food, recreation, etc. It all depends.
