For the same reason as the skin color difference and the same reason Eskimos have larger nasal cavities – biological adaptation to environmental conditions.

Sickle cell anemia gets its name from the sickle-shaped red blood cells that are more common (it is not an all or nothing difference between the groups) among people whose ancestors have historically lived in areas with high incidences of malaria (which applies to much of the African continent).

In an environment where malaria is endemic, people whose blood cells are more sickle than round in shape get malaria less often. The reason is that this shape makes it more difficult for the for parasite (transmitted via mosquito bite) to penetrate the cell and infect the person.

While this is obviously a good thing when you live where there is a lot of malaria, the down side is that it also makes you more prone to anemia under different environmental conditions.

Otherwise, the blood cells are the same and function the same so that over time if malaria is no longer and major factor in effecting mortality rates, the sickle-shaped morphology will lessen as the more prevalent rounder shape becomes more dominant.

NOTE: no supernatural beings or mystical sources were consulted or employed in identifying the cause or in providing the explanation for this biological question (although numerous mosquitoes were killed during, and as a result of, the scientific research).

i think of physiologically, we can agree that there are hardship-loose differences between women and adult adult males, no count the geographical / cultural history. the comparable makeup of hormones is to blame for giving women folk and adult adult males the two the sentiments and muscular tissues they have, besides the undeniable fact that it is not the muscular tissues that governs the sentiments. people of diverse races each inherit the genetics of that race, which has stepped forward one after the other over the centuries from different races. This creates a trend of springing up those with comparable pores and skin colorations, muscular tissues, skeletal shapes, etc. yet i'm noticeably useful the easily pores and skin shade isn't in any way by using emotional or physiological differences between the races. interesting question inspite of the shown fact that!

Because sickle cell anemia persisted particularly in areas with high rates of malaria (the heterozygous form of the disease reduces succeptability to malaria).

Sickle cell anemia is not related to being "black" but rather to a genetic heritage in certain areas, such as sub-saharan africa, that are also inhabited by dark-skinned peoples.

However, white people can and do have sickle cell anemia. The disease is not linked to skin color.
