the almost socialist Latin America hates America (at least their populist governments), most middle eastern countries hate America (sure sure there are saudi arabia and pakistan etc but they extremely dislike the US also just for the record), not in good relation with Russia, China. and forgot to mention North Korea. or any other country that I missed...
any opinions as to why?

Most countries hate the US because of the un-even treatment that we provide to different nations all over the world. We dont play an even hand when dealing with other nations... We give weapons to one country to invade another (see Sadaam in the 80's/early 90's), we give billions to nations, pennies to others, then try to coordinate "peace" throughout the world. Basically, we feel as though we can police the entire planet, but dont play fair when doing so... and mostly only look out for our own interests in every move we make... lets say you lived in Palestine, for instance, and you had Israeli warplanes flying above you every day, tanks invading your town, a 20' wall surrounding your borders and military 'checkpoints' at which you had to wait hours to get by just to go to work... so, that's your living condition... and every tank you see, and every bullet that is fired basically says "made in the USA" on it (we give more foreign aid to Israel than any other nation in the world, not including the money/support we give them for military) - wouldn't YOU hate America? I'm not saying any nation is right/wrong... all I'm saying is to try to look at things from other prospectives, rather than believing that "they hate us for our freedom" which is just ridiculous....

I don't think that the rest of the world "hates" Americans, I think they hate what Americans represent outside the boundaries of their own country. Personally, Americans must become better informed. Ignorance is not acceptable anymore, and going off to start a war in some foreign country without knowing its prior existence proves just that. That the majority of Americans are ignorant. And it is not jealousy, for, all the traits and liberties, you enjoy as people now, derive from the "old world". I think it might be a resentment towards the deviated course America had taken since its very promising and inspired beginning.
People, stop worrying about other countries and what they do in their own lands, and focus on your own. That's why people do not like you, for the past 300 years of US existence, your country has been taking part in ever major war or rivalry between nations that were not even in the same latitude and longitude with the US.
My recommendation(by the way I'm not American), read the declaration of Independence cause I think you have forgotten what it is all about. It was one of the most enlightened documents of that era. Now, with all this turmoil it represents a country that is despised all over the world.

I don't find it shocking. People fear what they don't understand, and they hate what they fear. That is what all the smack talk is about that you hear from Hugo Chavez. You may not remember the Soviet Union and the cold war days. The rhetoric coming out of Moscow was much the same as the tripe issuing forth from Latin America. It is just so much bluster. They have nothing we want and they aren't big enough to come here and pick a fight, so they run their mouths.

Also, we're king of the hill. They all want to push us off. For the record, China hasn't liked us since WW2 and neither has Russia. North Korea hasn't liked us ever. They came into existence as an enemy of the US. Who Latin America likes or hates is irrelevant.
You didn't mention all those little countries that used to be dominated by the USSR. They all like the US. For some reason, they give us credit for the fall of the Soviet Union. I wouldn't say that Europe hates us, either. They disagree, but remain allies. Muslim countries will dislike us on principle. We ARE the Great Satan, after all. (Wouldn't want to be anything but the best, you know.) Although its not just the government they hate, its all Americans.

It should not be shocking to you that most people in the world have serious anti-American sentiments, The USA is the Imperial power today and it acts according to its interests. As such it has created many enemies and a plethora of negative reactions. George Bush in recent times has exacerbated the situation with his arrogance, disregarding the rest of the world. I must admit as I travel that I have never in the past seen so much anti-americanism as now. Our motives have always been selfish. Do you know anything about the United Fruit Company?
The Platt Amendment? The Spanish American War? Manifest Destiny? Not to mention the recent debacles of Viet Nam and Iraq. If you were to read our foreign policy history, then it will be crystal clear to you why Castro, Chavez, Morales exist. They are the results of our misguided foreign policies.
Then you will no longer be shocked.

I was 14 years old when I first understood how much people hate Americans. I was living in California back then,and I didn't know that there were towns or cities that existed beyond the California Mountains. I really thought that there was basically farms and corn crops between the Los Angeles Crest Mountains and New York. I lived in Seal Beach for a while before moving to Texas. It wasn't until I moved to Tex-*** that I understood that people live and thrive and are happy outside of my little self-centered world.
While living at the Beach, my sister had enlisted in the United State Air Force and came home for a visit. She was stationed at an Air Force base in England. She explained to me that the Brits hate Americans and you have to be careful what bars(Pubs) you go to visit. If you're ignorant and walk into the wrong place and you're an American, you're going to get the Sheeet beat out of you, and maybe killed. She told me this back in 1984!
She said that people all over the world hate American's because we Americans only give a god damn about ourselves and to hell with the rest of the world!! That Americans come to European cities and visit and we make fools out of ourselves because most Americans are culturally uneducated and don't know anything bout world history or world geography or anything about other cultures. So, our government is chalked full of people just like that and our typical citizens can't even tell where the country of Monaco is or even where Belgium is.
We look really really really stupid to people in Europe and Asia and well to be quite honest, Can we blame them?
I bet that most the people who are reading this right now, cant even pass the basic College ACT or SAT test. I know how mean I sound but it's the truth. Our government has jacked up the education system in this country and it sickens me. I should know, I'm a school teacher!

My friend, you call your country America, that is the name of the continent. 80% of the United Statesian think that Hispanic/Latino is a race, what makes me laugh.
Isn't it reason enough to dislike you?

By the way, Latin America is not almost socialist. Cuba is the only socialist country of Latin America. Any other country of Latin America can't classified as socialist, if you know what socialism means.

Communism = good
to them
Capitalism = bad
America = Capitalistic
America=Bad
Another reason is you have 10 million people who are angry for not being fed. You blame another country for your troubles. you own the press. You own the schools. Who is going to debate you and say it is your government at fault.

Islamists countries. Okay if Islam is the great religion then why are we less advanced than the infedel Christians and Jews.

Also the EU hates us because that has become their identities. I hate America. If you ask the EU for Ideals (like freedom or democracy) they would say "I hate America". That is their Ideal.

You might ask the question "why is it so", instead of is it shocking or not. Think for a second what is the normal reaction to a country that is at war with numerous countries all around the world without having a stable really justifiable reason for it, think of a country that intervines with most of the rest countries' inner ruling and politics without having the right to do so, and if you come up with the name USA- you wouldn't be mistaken.

So imagine a population with no clue of world's geography except for its own, but still a population that goes and fights abroad in countries they've never knew existed before? How do you interpred that, couse it surely sounds reckless to me.

Anyway, it is shocking yes, but not strange and senseless at all.

None of the governments of the nations who blame all problems
and poverty on the USA want their citizens looking too closely
at what is going on at home...
We are a scapegoat for socialists, dictators, communists, theocracies, bureaucrats and corrupt bureaucracies...

You know what I'd really like to see, I'd like for the U.S. to stop giving money to countries that are anti-American. The US gives more money and aid to other countries than most other countries combined. I think its time for those countries to start earning that money by play nice with us. Would you give money to someone that hates you, I don't think so. It sure would open a lot of eyes out there.
