I really hope you're being sarcastic...
Despite the fact that "world conquest" is directly anathema to spreading liberty, America is nowhere near strong enough to conquer the planet. I mean, the USA can't even successfully conquer a 3rd world country (Iraq), what makes you think we could take on the big boys like China or England?

We have been doing that since the Spanish-American War. Should we make foreign nations part of the Union? Sure, if you want to see as big or bigger mess than Yugoslavia. What is to be gain by military conquest when you can do it better by economics and with economics you generally don't get everyone mad at you.
Why are we Americans so sure democracy is the best form of government for everybody? Muslims are commanded by the Koran to have a king. China would not be where it is today had it had democracy. They needed a forced strict ordered plan to get there.
If we become an empire we stop being a democracy ourselves, imposing our form of government on people who do not want it is not freedom. It is imperial might.

Hello,
Oh, you are so wrong my friend. This is called total world domination and where does democracy fit into this picture?
Nowhere!
Ever heard of a One World Government, Mind Control, Chem trails in our skies? All this is happening right under our noses and in plain sight at the same time.
Are you sure you want have a North American Union? Do you honestly think this would be a good thing? RFID chips will right now are being issued at $200.00 a pop, volunteerily. But later, it will be mandatory in order for you and me to work, eat and travel.
Ever heard of the Antichrist? This Antichrist will only appear once the North American Union is formed. Let's not further the Antichrist's cause to come forth and reveal his evil intentions.
Big Brother is and has been on the rise for what, 30 years now. Please open your eyes and arm yourself with the truth that will set you free.
Hope this helps you............... : - O

At present I see three groups willing to follow under that banner: 1) Members of the international banking and financial establishments who stand to gain from control of currently sovereign resources.. 2) Naive idealists who have not examined the historical data evidencing what happens to populations living under a remote, centralized government. 2) Fearful people who yearn for a security blanket in the person of a super-duper king-sized papa bear who will squelch all wars and somehow guarantee eternal peace, crime-free streets, and a high standard of living for all. There are people who live for money and power, simple as that, combined with the general tendency of the rest of the people to be submissive, and that is what is driving entities like the EU. It for sure ain't peace hope and brotherly love. Property-owning dynasties from way back in history did not just disappear over time. The huge central banks (including the federal reserve of the U.S.) did not spring from nowhere. The United States of 1776 was an attempt to break free from the old-world power structure, and the U.S. Constitution is really the last remaining thorn in the side of the planners of a world government, because it specifically limits centralized government, and specifically protects fundamental natural rights. If such a world state ever comes to pass, rest assured that A) its citizens will not be armed, B) its local governments will have no jurisdiction independent of the world state, and C) every purchase or sale of any goods or services will be tracked and recorded.

The U.S has actually had an empire for many decades. That is a fact which is conveniently downplayed in many of our history books. After all, they wouldn't want the citizenry to get the wrong idea about American ideals now, would they?
One doesn't spread democracy forcibly. The mere idea itself is undemocratic. Democracy is a mantle a group of people agree to take upon themselves, without coercion, force or intervention. Unfortunately, some of our stupid so called leaders don't seem to understand that concept.

You speak as if the American Empire is not already in existance. The measure of an empire is not merely dependent on land mass but also wealth, military and most importantly control. In place of conventional colonies the American Empire has accumlated an empire of military bases, more then 400 bases worldwide with many others undisclosed to the public.
Not only does the American Empire resort to their endless converntional military bases to press control, there are intelligence services operated by the department of defense and of course the CIA which employ covert leadership removal (as was done to Iran during the 50s, as well as a failed attempt at Fidel Castro) to enfore the "American way".
The American people believe they are losing the war and the insurgents believe they have the upper hand, but unfortunately nothing could be further from the truth.
Our public education system does not stress enough importance on history. It is deemed boring, unimportant, and meaningless. Yet history holds lessons, mistakes, warnings, examples all from which wisdom can be derived. This is not the United States of America this is the United States of Amnesia. Not long ago did President Eisenhower warn the people of this nation of an epidemic , a cancer, growing within the government. But we did not heed his warning instead we forget. 60 years later the cancer, the dangerous merge of Industry and the Military, has grown far beyond repair. From the combat boots to the bombs from the forks the soldiers use to even laundry service is controlled and operated by a corporation (MPRI). Even the training of Iraqi police officers is ultimately in the hands of a private company. Now ask yourself would it benefit the military and its heavily backed private sector to end this war? With defense funding at levels well above the cold war, the recent establishment of North Com (a violation of Posse comitatus), ending the war would be receiving less which is undesirable to both the Military and its Industry.
Another unfortunate result of this Military-Industrial complex is modern Iran. If the Iranians do have nuclear weapons they would have American receipts dating back 40-50 years ago when Reza Sha (result of a regime change by CIA replacing Mossadeh in Iran in 1953) "acquired" rights to buy American arms, his country went into extreme poverty while the Iranian military supplied by american industry sky rocked which resulted in the Iranian Revolution. America is the biggest exporter of arms in the world second to none. Its absolutely strange how American forces did not find stockpiles of biological weapons in Iraq when about 20 years before Donald Rumsfeld established an arms agreement with Suddam to counter the Iranian Revolution (which ousted Reza Sha). Iran under the order of Ayatollah Khomeini destroyed 70% of its own military equipment and disbanded thousands of Iranian soldiers leaving the country susceptible to attack. This resulted in the Iraq Iran War in which biological weapons were used without notice from international community against the Iranians. This is why they disprove of America not because we have adult television after 12 not because of our skimpy bikinis. Thousands mourned the deaths of the 9/11 victims in Terhan but no one paid attention. This is a compressed history of the middle east you must read further.
The Rubicon has been crossed but I believe it not to late to save this country I love so much from the fate of Rome.
Governments constantly choose between telling lies and fighting wars, with the end result always being the same. One will always lead to the other.
~Thomas Jefferson
Overgrown military establishments are under any form of government inauspicious to liberty, and are to be regarded as particularly hostile to Republican liberty
~ President George Washington
Please do not value brute force, military strength over intelligence, negotiation, and wisdom.

No way!America cannot dominate the world. Any country with nuclear weapons can destroy the planet by detonating in their own country or in the open seas! If it will come to be dominated or die lot of nations prefer the die and take the rest with them. The same with the USA when the Soviats were ahead in missiles, the US had doomsday bombs ready to destroy the planet! Doomsday bomb 1,2 and 3 to boot.

You're not serious, are you? Have you any idea how bankrupt your nation's reputation is worldwide? No, it's time for an America that respects other countries as much as it expects to be respected.
I know not all Americans agree with you, and I would venture to say--given Dubya's battering in recent opinion polls--that you are in a very sad minority...or you really are taking the piss.
