He's volatile and has called the US some very terms in public, nearly threatening the US. He is also trying to mobilize support of other nations against the US, like Cuba and Iran. don;t know all the details but he hates the US and has said so.

Chavez is nationalizing/expropriating the phone service of venezuela. This means that he's taking a privately owned telephone company and is going to have it government run. The problem with this is that Verizon, an American corp, owns about 28.5% of the phone company (CANTV). When this is done to foreign investors in America, the American govern pays the investors fair market value. Chavez doesn't want to pay fair market value- so basically the Americans who invested multi-millions, if not billions, in the phone company have the potential to get screwed out of a big chunk of that investment. This will fair poorly among America-Venezuela relations, especially considering that America still buys most of its oil products from venezuela. Also America is pissed that Chavez is all buddy-buddy w/ our arch-nemisis Castro.

i think of you're confusing too many themes which includes your question. The Berlin wall divided a single u . s . a . into 2 worldwide places. It did no longer seperate 2 very distinctive worldwide places or cultures. As to it working, the Berlin wall develop into fairly effectual. ninety 8% of the folk who tried to pass it have been shot. That proves to be fairly a deterrent. Israel is a moot factor additionally because of the fact the border partitions there are keeping a rustic that maximum human beings of the electorate interior the neighboring worldwide places don't think has a appropriate to exist. they have no activity in honoring the treaties that have been created to type Israel. there is not any longer something incorrect with the U. S. development a wall to guard the southern border as long as that is satisfactorily guarded so as that that is in certainty effectual. although, there is particularly no evaluate development the wall except the U. S. additionally makes a decision to furnish huge tax incentives to multi-national agencies for increasing into Mexico and becoming greater jobs and possibilities down there so as that the electorate will want to stay there to artwork. the biggest problems we've with immigration from the south is the socialist governments of the southern worldwide places. All they are doing is becoming increasing poverty for his or her electorate - basically because of the fact the former Soviet Union did. Socialist policys create poverty. Healthcare and decrease priced housing do no longer mean a area in case you're able to desire to stand in line to purchase bread. basically ask the intense-high quality human beings in Cuba.

Hugo Chavez is Communist (something the US has been against since day one because it so counters our economic system), he is allies with Fidel Castro (enemy of the US for decades) and he supported the candidate for President of Mexico that we did not care for at all (Mexico is right next to the US and we already have problems with Mexico so we didn't need more). Hugo Chavez also came to our country and called our president the devil. While many may believe this, many others do not and no foreign leader should come to this country and say something like that.

Chavez is strong, popular leader who advocates communist policies.
The USA is traditionally very anti-communist.
Communist countries often nationalize businesses that may be owned by U.S. corporations, so it is against U.S. economic intrests to have communism in nations they do business in.
Becasue the USA has repeatedly funded anti-chavez movements (that have failed) he has become paranoid against the USA and acts as if the USA will invade venezuela.
As such, chavez has made many anti-US statements, so the US governmenthas become more aligned against him and his government.
Venezuela exports oil, and his government has become harmful to US oil interests as well.
Pat robertson, a powerful religious icon with american christian fundamentalists has even called for chavez' assasination. This has worsened matters.
But "worst" of all, the people of his nation love him.

Basically Venezuela is using gas and money to manipulate the financially disadvantaged in this country and other countries to have an effect on the political landscape by giving areas free oil after they themselves have been manipulating the oil markets to over inflate prices so the disadvantaged and lower middle class in our country and other countries have difficulty paying for heat etc....
Bravo to the alaskan villages who turned down his offer.
Venezuela is a huge problem for the US and other countries because the dictator there exploits his own people and has slowly been taking the civil liberties away from his own people as he gains more power in his country.
If he can win the hearts and minds of our lower to middle class here in the US and in other democratic countries then it will be politically difficult for any elected government U.S. and others other countries to address these civil liberty issues in venezuela and their neighboring areas in the United Nations forum, The civil rights issues that in a few years will be critical in venezuela will be trumped by Chavez's good natured social services to other countries.
Maxium Revolution (rule by decree) He now as of today he alone controls all decision making power in his country. It is signed today. He has been slowly turning his country from elected officials and laws to a dictatorship.
In two years ask this question and see how the Venezuela people will have been exploited, and all the oil wealth in that country gradually until it only goes to Cha CHa and not to the betterment of his own people, His people will begin to starve as he provokes and goats countries to intervien.
The U.S. and other countries regardless what country or political party you belong to consistantly has stood for one thing and thats Humanity first. This is a threat to anyone who's motives and power goals are not so good for all who they are reported to lead or in the case of Chavez be a dictactor over. As of today demorcricy in that country is dead.

The main problem with Chavez is that he is very vocal of his opinions.
I am sure many leaders think the things he says, but he has the nerve to say them out loud. I say this based on his UN speech where he called Bush the Devil... while he was saying that, many other national leaders were shaking their heads in agreement. That tells me he just is one of those guys that says out loud what most are thinking but don't want to say.
Sure, I could go into his socialist versus capitalist, etc... beliefs but trust me, most Americans don't even understand the meaning of either. The real reason my fellow Americans don't like him is: all they know is they saw him on TV calling Bush the Devil. It's that simple.. he is too vocal with his opinions.

Hugo is the heir apparent to Fidel Castro. He hates the U.S. and he ain't scared of sh*t. The last thing he did was order a bunch of foreign AK-47's instead of American M-16's, and Bush denounced it.

It's because he is implementing a kind of third way socialism in his country, and anything that smacks of socialism pisses America off. The hatred conveniently ignores the fact that he is popular in his country. That you won't find reported on BushCo cheerleader network FOX, or anywhere else that is remotely right-wing.

There are people in America, some on this list, who think if you don't love America you must be bad.
Everything revolves around America.
Chavez hasn't done anything wrong as far as his own people are concerned.
I have no problem with him. Actually a lot of admiration and respect.
