one political theory argues that societies go through an evolution process- after democracy, then communism, then socialism, then perfect socialism...i think this happens only after a democracy starts failing due to capitalist overexpansion...capitalist overexpansion is a result of global exhaustion. Of course, this may take up to a couple hundred years.
Furthermore, others argue that the World Trade Organization (WTO) is designed to keep developing countries in a state of perpetual dependency due to an interest rate on borrowing funds from the WTO...if this is true, then Americas evolution can take as long as this forced global class system can sustain itself.

The only way I can foresee communism coming back in a functional way is if resources become so plentiful that everyone can essentially live very comfortably. To use an example relating to science fiction- if they develop the Star Trek replicators (That turn energy into matter), there would be no need for money or resources anymore- therefore, capitalism would become an outdated concept.

Otherwise, "Communist" governments may rise and fall, but they will never be true to the ideology of Marx.

China is a communist country... and as I understand it it 'is' a differerent form of communism from USSR.

China's population is over a billion; its standing army is aproximatly the size of the US total population 280 - 300 million.

They are as expansionist as USSR was -- ask mongolia, etc. The only thing preventing them from snatching Taiwan is US technology and it remains to be seen how long that will last.

Right now, the chinese are buying up world resources. They could pretty much destroy many countries right now simply by refusing to trade with them.

In short, Communism never disappeared.

As far as Russia goes, most phenomenon have some sort of at least temporary backlash, so I am surprised that we haven't seen this in Russia? Maybe we have or there hasn't been enough time yet?

I think totalitarianism will reappear and disappear again from time to time, especially in times of conflict over resources. Whether the words Communism, or Command Economy are ever used again, so many great works of written fiction paint it as our inevitable destiny; 1984, Brave New World, the Handmaid's Tale.....
Also, in countries which have entered a transition away from oover-centralized, one party authority (Russia in the 90s, Spain in the 70s), there is often a kind of nostalgia for the good old days, particularly from the older generation. 'Everyone knew where they stood when the general was in charge....and the price of bread stayed the same for years!'
It doesn't seem to take much to keep us happy and docile, does it?

communism will not come back in Stalinist or Maoist way. Marx said it is not a dogmatic . it changes its forms and spread through out the world in a democratic manner. the entire Latin America elected left wing leaders. Maoists occupied power in Nepal. the JANATHA VIMUKTI PERUMUNA, an ultra nationalist as well as radical communist party is supporting the ruling party of sri lanka and there it is a force to reckon with. MARXIST PRINCIPLES WITHOUT DICTATORSHIP ARE ACCEPTABLE TO MANY PEOPLE IN THE WORLD. THAT IS WHY MANY COUNTRIES ARE ELECTING SOCIALIST GOVERNMENTS. FRANCE IS GOING TO ELECT A SOCIALIST CANDIDATE. EVEN IN THE US ,PEOPLE REJECTED CONSERVATIVE REPUBLICANS IN NOVEMBER VERDICT. BUT WE CAN NOT SEE COMMUNISM WITH DICTATOR SHIP AND ATHEIST COMMUNISM. I GUESS IT WILL ADOPT A MORE SUITABLE PATH THAT ATTRACTS ALL CLASSES OF PEOPLE. FOR YOUR INFORMATION, THE LEFT WING LEADERS OF LATIN AMERICAN COUNTRIES LIKE CHAVEZ BELIEVE IN GOD ALSO. IF THE MARXISTS DO NOT SUPPRESS THE RIGHTS OF THE PEOPLE IN EXPRESSING THEIR OPINIONS AND ALLOW THEM TO FOLLOW THEIR FAITHS, IT WOULD DEFINITELY BE ACCEPTABLE AND IT IS GOING TO HAPPEN. ERICH FROMM BEAUTIFULLY CONGLOMERATED MARXISM AND FREUDIAN-ISM .

The only way communism can survive is when people are so poor and miserable that they can not fight for their freedom and can not unite against oppressive govt. I read somewhere that the best way to eradicate communists is to eradicate poverty. Prosperity and democracy goes side by side.

Yes it will and it will in a big way when and if another Clinton is ever president. In her book, It takes a Village. She wants to turn all day cares for children into Federal owned and operated, to brainwash the children early.

Have you seen Hillary Clinton??? Have you seen how much the media has pushed for her? She is a tried and true Communist. However she is trying to pass herself off as a ''Moderate Liberal" She believes that ALL people would benefit from a socialist federal system. This IS communism, just with a different face.

Some People, and I'm not pointing, (well maybe one line up) Say that George Bush is a communist. Perhaps they need to educate themselves by looking up the word COMMUNIST.

If it was in a different form, it wouldn't be communism.

I personally would doubt it. Although Marx' Communism is a wonderful thing *in theory* there is too much corruption in humanity for it to work in reality.
