We are not waging war against Islamic countries. We are waging war against the radical muslims who are trying to destroy anyone who doesn't believe what they believe and those who harbor them. For example, we did not go to war against Afghanistan. We went after the Taliban and Al Qaida who were terrorizing the government and people of Afghanistan. The same is true of Iraq. We went to war against a genocidal dictator (Saddam, the only difference between the terrorist he was and terrorists like Bin Laden is that he was able to terrorize the people of Iraq long enough to take over the country and continued to terrorize to maintain that power), and again we were and are fighting Al Qaida and insurgents. We are not fighting the people of Iraq, and they are very thankful to have the opportunity to have a democratic government.

I am a muslim from Saudi Arabia. Why do you guys think SOME muslims dislike US government?? I repeat, dislike the government, not people.
Why is the US/UK/Israel only countries being targeted by those radical muslims?? And not other countries, even though most muslims would side with American lifestyle than with European life style??
This is a political war, not religous. If you still think that its a religous war, then how come there is only one 9/11 in US and not in all non Muslim countries??
How come the US is allowed to own nuclear wpns, but not Iran?? Unlike the US, Iran only had one war with Iraq, but the US history is tainted with MANY wars against other nations and tainted with usage of weapns of mass destruction, e.g. Nuclear bomb in Japan and Naplim bombs in Vietnam. If there is a country that should NOT own WOMD, then it should be the US due to its history.
What makes the government think that the way they define democracy/freedom is how the world should live??
The fact is that US was targeted and hit by terrorist because US interferred with Islamic countries businesses. There wouldn't be any 9/11 if the US used different ploicys.
And for those who say that muslims MUST kill all non-muslims , like one of the posts above, are wrong. How do you explain that Islam is the fastest growing religion in the US, if it teaches to kill non-muslims??

We are facing down threats of Islamic fundamentalism and any government - Islamic or not - who supports them in any way. According to current events, the fundamentalists seem to enjoy ripping a part or threatening established governments whether it is the US, Britian, France, Spain, Italy, to name a few or even their own Islamic Republics. As for communist countries of the past, we had 15,000 nuclear warheads pointed at us, we had sworn enemies like Nikita Khrushchev who ranted, "we will bury you." We helped save West Germany and West Berlin from Soviet domination--again, only to name a few instances, including Cuba who had offensive nuclear weapons 90 miles from our borders, and who threatened to use them. The threats are the same, just from different sources now.

Yes, that is how this whole mess got started. This West vs. Muslim problem started with the Crusades but was settled for centuries then the British, French, and Americans screwed the Arabs after World War 1. They did that by not giving them their promised freedom. The current problems date to then. America needs to learn that not everybody wants or needs democracy for one thing and another not every nation is a client state. Enough on that.
Is it wrong for the US to keep waging war, we are not waging war presently. We are trying to keep a civil war from breaking out. A power vacuum has occurred and the ancient clash of Sunni and Shiite is trying to break out full force, we are mainly just a convienent target for both. Is it our business to stop it. Sort of, as we created the vacuum. We created it by taking out the leader we had put in and grown tired of -- Saddam Hussein. Should we have put him in power? We needed him to counter Iran. Now we need to be thinking about countering Iran again and therefore we need a strong government and presence in Iraq. It is always a chess match when you are thinking and playing the game of international politic and meddling in the affairs of other nations. We cannot win a war of terror as the Irish and Basque Questions clearly shows. One or both sides must decide to stop it. The violence and fighting can be put down, different from winning, but then we would have to become far worse than the enemy.

I think it is wrong that we selectively decide who we hate and who we don't. Saudi Arabia is one of the most oppressive regimes in that region, yet we look the other way when they themselves commit atrocities against their own women and minorities, because we need their help when, actually, they really hate us as much as Iran or Iraq. Pakistan is the same way. If it didn't border Afghanistan, we could care less about them, because they have no resources to exploit, like oil maybe?

Hell yes! At least when America was fighting the Communists, that was the message given to the American public, to stop the red tide.
Now, there is no clear message as to why America is waging war on these countries, because it is all for the personal gain of a few. If you recall how the messages have changed for the reason America is even in Iraq:
Ties to Al-Queda (nope)
Links to 9/11 (nope)
There are WMD (nope)
Sadam is a dictator (yes, but there's plenty of them out there, did the Iraqi people send him a text message asking Bush to get rid of Sadam?)
Iraq needs to be liberated (nope, now there will be a civil war raging for years)
America hasn't even finished their mission in Afghanistan. Some want to say that American's aggression towards Muslims is because of 9/11 . . . but the Bush administration is buddy buddy with the Saudies (keep in mind the majority of the 9/11 highjackers were from Saudi Arabia). It's a money thing. Cheany met with Sadam in the 90's to bolster relations. It has nothing to do with Muslims, it has to do with who controls the oil. Come on, Saudi Arabia remains in America's good graces for one reason and one reason only. If America was all about democracy and liberation, and the whole crap about viewing a country that harbors terrorists as a terrorist threat (justifying why we attacked Iraq 'ties to Al-Queda'), what about Idi Amin, who butchered upwards of 500,000 of his own people and then took refuge in Saudi??? What about the terrorist cells that call Saudi home, or for that matter, any country in the world. Is America going to blow up everyone?
America needs to focus on fixing this country, and keep it's politics out of other countries. America needs to focus on how it will move forward not using fossile fuels. America needs to spend money on education (real education, not the crap that's out there now). No child left behind??? How many homeless kids are out there today?? How many kids don't get to eat every day? Bring back the troops, let mothers and fathers have their kids back, let babies meet their dad for the first time.
America has no business in Iraq, and the worst possibility which will probably happen before bonehead bush is out of office, American troops will probably end up in Iran which will be an even bigger mistake!

Hey, Heather, they attacked us first or don't you remember that little thing that happened on 9/11? The US has every right to defend herself when attacked.

We have become somewhat of a bully, interfering in everyone's affairs. The sad thing is that most of the public disagrees with what the president is doing! So as a country we are being held accountable for something we don't even believe in or want.
Time for a new president.
