38 weeks 2 days to be exact...I've been dilated 1 1/2 for 2 weeks, 60% effaced, he's dropped, I have had loose stools, crampiness, have had mild to painful braxton hicks everyday for over 2 weeks, and have really really sharp pains on my cervix....now this sounds (and feels) like labor is right around the corner...any stories or thoughts, cause I feel like my labor is never going to start, I'm so miserable.

I know EXACTLY how you feel. I had my baby 6 months ago.

I will tell you though that I was dialated at 1 1/2 for 2 weeks and I wasnt effaced at all and didnt drop until I was in the middle of labor. I remember trying everything: walking, having sex, eating spicy food. It doesnt work, so just sit back and relax and prepare. Labor is on its way, and you will know when its here. I spent all my time thinking "is this labor? is this?" and then the day came and I just knew.

Dont worry you've probably got less than a week left.

I was feeling the same way before my son was born July 22 2006. All I can say is to walk, and when you get tired of walking, sit in a rocking chair and rock (an exercise ball works well too.) The idea is to use gravity to induce labor. Also I read some where about drinking redleaf rasberry tea to bring on contractions. You may want to contact someone who specializes in prenatal massage there are pressure points on the body that are said to help bring on labor(and it just feels good to have a rubdown).
And I've heard good things about Labor Balm.
Good Luck and God Bless!!
p.s. a credible doula or midwife might be able to offer you some more ideas.

These last weeks and days feel lousy, but the baby will come. I also had 2 to 3 weeks of mini-labor.

Remind yourself that the more pre-labor you do at home, the faster actual labor probably will be. It sounds like you don't have far to go.

It will start soon. The end of pregnancy can be miserable. Use this time to do any last minute things you need to do before the baby comes. Try to keep yourself busy and your mind off of it. Your baby will come when he's ready....it could be another 2 weeks though.....hopefully not. :)

ooohhhh, mama you are going through a lot. well i just had my son 3 months ago. my contractions were coming every five minutes and i was dilated only 2.5cm. i went to the hospital and they did several test on me. they told me they were going to send me home, and that maybe i was just dehydrated. however, i asked them to keep me longer just in case because i was having toooooo much pain. after a while i jumped from 2.5cm to 4cm and my contractions were coming every 2 minutes. they admitted me and gave me epideral for the pain which was very unbearable. i was in so much pain i did not want anyone in the room with me except my fiancee and he was out of town because our son came early. i gave birth the next day all by myself. my delivery was only 30 minutes. after going through painful contractions i just wanted my son out of me so i push so hard and fast that the doctors were impressed how fast he came. after everything i was too tired to talk or do anything else. i held my son for a moment. threw up. and later when they took me to the maternity ward and brought him in, i stayed up all night watching him sleep. i still do that now. i am so in love with him. i thank GOD everyday for such a gorgeous human being. the moral of my story: when all is said and done, after you give birth you will realize that is was all worth it. i know you feel miserable now but children are a blessing. just be sure to let him know when he grows up how much trouble he gave you while in your tummy. good luck with your delivery. May God Bless You And Your Little One.

I can empathize. I was in your shoes about 10 weeks ago--my only saving grace was a scheduled c-section so I knew exactly what day all the suffering would end...only to be continued in about 13 years when the teenage years begin I'm sure.

I've had two babies. It sounds very much to me like you are very, very close to actual labor. Try to relax, sleep as much as possible, and pay attention to your body. It'll be soon. Congratulations!
