is there guidelines for using numerals after your childs name?
do the child, father and grandfathers name have to be EXACTLY the same. if the middle name is different, can you still carry the numerals?
can it be:
John Bob Doe I
John Bill Doe II
John Fred Doe III
etc?

can you provide a link. resources would help.

Your examples are NOT allowed by tradition or linage.. they are allowed by law though (you can name yer kid anything ya want.. doesnt have to even have either parents surname in the USA.. you can name hijm Ugly Lil Bastard Jones legally and yer name is Smith and dads name is Wilson)

BUT tradition wise..

Seeing as my birth name is Harry W. Johnson III I can say a little on this..

Its a tradition of linage.. for the numbers to be after a name it must be exact NAME first middle and last.. and it must follow sucessive generations.. grandfather, Father, Son, Etc.. in my case (and yes there is a Harry W. Johnson IV as well...
In my particular linage it has a more specific meaning.. on my paretnal side (fathers) I am 3rd generation American.. (mother side i'm native american.. they have always been here) The great grandfather that came over on the boats name was Yalma Waldimie Johansen.. ellis island translated to Harry Walter Johnson.. which is the name that was given to my grandfather... (Harry Walter Johnson I)

ALSO roman numerals only apply to the first born son of a first born son traditionally.. It dosent traditionally count other wise..

But in fact anyone can name thier kid anything they want at birth legally... including numbers and even a different last name than any of the parents.. My take here is just based on tradition.. which mostly based on royal tradition of europe.. Commoners dont use roman numerals after names either in europe or the USA but they tend to use either SR or JR in the US and thats about it.. anything beyond that is likely back to upper class old europe tradition and some liniage to some royality..

But in fact its just an old tradition.. but its one people will get called on even today if they have that roman numeral after thier name by others.. better have that linage ready LOL

Oddly enough I rarely use my Birth name for anything anymore (legally) I go by one name only.. D'archangel.. Or 'Angel to my friends

Fact is you can name yer Kid anything you want to here in the USA anyway.. regardless of tradition or name.. You can name em Red Sky Blue in fact though it has nothing to do with any parents name.. and its legal... But people will enquire about roman numerals after a name eventually at some place some time.. better be prepared to be able to prove its supposed to be there.. If it isnt supposed to be and exact.. Better to skip it.. no sence making yer kids life harder (aoh and yeah eventually some one will ask for proof..0 Better to use Jr or Sr no one questions that at all here..
