I heard that Da Vinci had to draw a freehanded perfect circle in order to paint the Cistene Chapel, but then I learned Michelangelo painted the Cistene chapel, but I still see everywhere that Da Vinci was the first artist that was able to freehand a PERFECT circle. Are there any articles which confirm this, and are relible?

My grandma (an old artist) told me while she was teaching me to draw, that Da Vinci was once confronted by a mathematician and told that he wasn t a true artist because he couldn t draw a perfect circle free handed, since he believe it to be physically impossible he was hoping to humiliate Da Vinci, but Da Vinci was able to draw one such perfect circle and sent the mathematician on his way.
I ve Tried looking for this story online but was unable to find it so I m not 100% sure of the validity but this is as I heard it and as it has been passed down in my family.

I throught it was Giotto, not Da Vinci who did the perfect circle thing, but I could be wrong.

you know, they have competitions for that, with prizes and all. I've heard only a genius or a madman can draw a perfect circle freehand. Then again, I've also heard I'm going to hell if i don't believe in a man on a stick who died for me.

this was a stunt da vinci performed to impress people. He was probably taught how to do it. I doubt you'll find anything that equates to solid evidence.
