No, SATA does not provide power as well. There is a connector interface that connects to the legacy power connector and adapts to the SATA/Optical, same is true for the SATA H.d.'s and most of the time, most SATA, and RAID devices have the legacy connector on it as well.

Sata cable is slim and usually is red color. This cable only to connect your HDD to mainboard. For the power there's another cable for SATA HDD. If your power supply provide the connector, usually the head is flat and a little bit bigger than SATA cable head. but if your power supply doesn't have the connector, you can buy the converter from molex to SATA.

also to add in for the power connector. check the back of you HDD to see if it has the dual power connector on the back. i have seen alot of them with both a standard IDE connector and a sata connector choice for giving it power. i put a WD sata 80 gig in my girlfriends with the dual set-up. nothing in the system was sata till i got ahold of it. put a sata card in with the drive and the 7200rpm's made the 1100 athlon alot faster.

If this isn't for gaming you do not decide on 600 Watts. per chance 500 ought to do superb (see you later as no SLI contained in the destiny). Why 2 DVD drives? One should be ready to do adequate, except you don't love replacing discs round? something else is great. you extremely do not decide on even those severe of aspects in case you at the instantaneous are not gaming.

That all depends upon the present cable and the slots to which it is connected to.
