I, too suffer from depression and have a suicidal attempted past. The only thing I can say that I need was for someone to be there for me. Your friend needs you right now. More than likely she is in a hospital now on a psych ward......(been there) and all I can say is go see her, give her a hug, and LET HER TALK. Just listening is the best answer!!

I have depression too. Get her out of the house. Go for walks and get fresh air. Some days it's really hard to get out of the funk but there are many ways of dealing with it:
Getting out on a regular basis
eating a good balanced diet at normal meal times
take a shower every day
do something positive, like read or even put make up on
Pretty much anything that makes you feel like you're living.

Sometimes if youre not trained in handling certain situations, you can actually do more harm than good. I know its hard not being able to help someone close to you but there are trained professionals that spend many years in schools and experience better equipped to handle this. The challenge for you is for you to get her to seek thiis help which can seem like an impossible task at times, but if shes to the point of hurting herself youve got to find a way to do it before she really hurts herself. I have the education and experience you seek but its really hard to help someone in this shape over the internet, but am willing to help if I can. Best to get her to see someone face to face in this situation in case she needs some medications. Its nice for her to have such a concerned friend but the best thing you can do is get her to some help really quick. Good luck

My best advice is for you to sit down in a quite place and try your best to find out what makes your friend depressed. Sometimes it just take someone just to listen. You may want to speak to your clergy. Depression is so very sad but is treatable with the correct type of medicine like "Prozac" It really works for me. God Bless and Respect

You are not qualified to help her. She needs professional help. If you are minors, you must inform her parents or a counselor at school. If she is in immediate danger, ie you think she'll try it again before you can inform anyone, you can call a suicide hot line or call 911. She might get mad at you, but she can't be mad if she actually commits suicide.

this sounds serious. try to be the best support system for her. she needs a stronger person to help her through this.. maybe even medication is needed. she should see a therapist, or maybe just a doctor. but whatever happens it needs to be done fast. she could be in serous trouble if this goes on any longer..

You can't. She needs to help herself.

Ask her what's making her feel so sad? And then take her out to have some fun and meet new people.
