Technical school is the bottom of the list. You will get a toolbox and a workbench. By technical school, I am referring to places like DeVry. Good school, but I accurately described what happens to their graduates. CSU is better these days, but considered a place to learn things like business, teaching, and soft subjects like that. Very few considered good in hard science, engineering. A UC is best. Cal Poly has a very fine reputation. Cal Tech is slipping in recent years. Best on the West coast are UC Berkeley, UC Davis, and Stanford. Stanford is private and pricey. UC Berkeley is top of the list for publics. UC Davis is a sleeper. A good Univ., nice surroundings, easy place to live. Known historically as an "Aggie" school, they have a good engineering department there. Also medicine. Also a lot of cute girls, if that matters at all. If you are in So. Cal., I would hit maybe Cal Poly, but my first choice would be Berkeley if I could get in at all (just for the additional prestige) and then Davis for a good solid education.

Most likely a UC, but it depends on which one. If you're comparing UC Irvine to CSU San Diego, San Diego might be the winner. I think employers really look more at your major, your experience and your personality. The interview is key. It's usually a combination of all these things. I got a job in my field (Government) by interning at a lobbying firm the last semester of college (and I went to Sac State - a CSU).

That would depend on your major. Go to the one that has the best college for your major.
