Harrison was probably better technically, but i think that townsend is the better song writer. It is hard to judge though because townsend really plays rythm guitar, John Entwistle(the greatest bass player ever) was the lead instrumet in the who.

For me i have to choose Mr. Pete townsend, his music is more rocking than george h.

I prefer Harrison. Rolling Stone also preferred him over Townshend. You can hear some good stuff from his "All Things Must Pass" album. I like Harrison's manipulation of chords and arpeggios

They're both not the best, technically, but I prefer Townshend. Perhaps I'm partial to The Who but he is funner to watch, eh? Love Townshend.
