Rather than ruin your skin trying to get a tan, work with what you have, using make-up that enhances your own tones and coloring.
The lighter you are, the more likely you are to get cancer from excessive exposure to the sun and tanning beds.

Hey I know where you're coming from being that I'm pale myself!
It can be tough especially when summer rolls along and everyone else has been nicely baked..but the truth of the matter is tan isn't the only standard of beauty anymore! Thank goodness!
Most models today are sporting a healthy glow whether they're pale tan or in between! In fact I'm seeing this peachy porcelain skin trend on many runways for spring/summer 2007.
So don't be self conscious! Not to sound corny but...Enjoy the skin you're in!
Pale is pretty :)

In my country, most women avoid the sun just so that they could be pale. The very positive side to that is we grow older with less wrinkles due to sun damage.
Maybe you can consider applying the fake tan lotions at home? You don't have to go very dark, just some color might make you feel more comfortable.
Also, consider how some of the Hollywood celebrities are looking nowadays. Nicole Kidman is the perfect example of a beautiful, and very pale, woman. Be proud of what you have. The right people will love you for who you are, not the color of your skin.

look at all the celebrities who are pale and still beautiful! liindsay lohan, paris hilton (even though no one loves her, she is still pretty) and more. there are many beautiful women who have pale skin, and you do not have to care about tan. i personally am very tan and tan easily, but sometimes i wish i were more pale. be happy with your skin!

Think about Michael Jackson and all the other African-Americans who try very hard to bleach their skin and become white.
Be proud of your skin color. Don't let people with dark skin brainwash you through the media (with all that "melting pot" crap) and tell you otherwise.

* I am in your position sorta only it isn't my skin that i am worried about, it is my hair. I am balding and it looks really bad, and was worried about no one liking me at all, however, now i am with a beautiful girl and she doesn;t care about my hair, she cares about who i am on the inside. So my advice to you is that you need to be patient and when the right one comes along, you will be happy.

Your who you are! You don't have to be that tanned. If it makes you feel better get that Ban De Soliel self tanner. It's really good and streak free. Not yellow, it looks real. But you don't have to have that!!!!! Make sure you have the SPF w/UV protection!

Many people prefer lighter people. Just realize that there are some people who will think you are more beautiful being lighter and there are others that think darker is more beautiful.
