Well, my thoughts are that the years have raced by so quickly and all of a sudden you look in the mirror and think "how did that happen" - you start noticing the little lines around your eyes and so on.
As someone in their (very) early 30's, it only feels like yesterday that I was in my 20's and, while there is nothing wrong with being older it's always nice to be mistaken for younger than what you actually are so the ever-quickening flashing by of the years doesn't seem so scary.
You wait!

Funny thing about age...-You can't wait to grow up, & when THAT finally happens- you wish you were younger again!!! When I was young- everybody thought I looked older than I was. Now that I'm older- people tell me I don't look my age. So I've had the best of BOTH worlds for most of my life! :) ... The reality IS; most of us don't feel the way we look, & it's very depressing when the mirror says we're not young anymore. And I hate to tell you this; but unless you're a REALLY Happy person, & end up having a REALLY wonderful life- you're going to wake up some morning after you've turned 40, look into the mirror & ask yourself "Is THAT me..?" Then YOU'LL be able to answer the question you just asked. (& some young guy will come along & say- "you don't look a DAY over 25..." -& you'll want to kiss him on the spot!!!).

Well, speaking as an almost 30 yr old and always getting remarks about me looking younger, it's really nice to hear. Getting old sucks: wrinkles, saggy skin and gaining weight that's hard to keep off is not attractive and all these things happen when you get older sooo, when you say I look younger, it's a great compliment. Means I'm doing something right.

You could have said "your eyes are so bright!" or even "you look smart in that suit." or " love the scent of your perfume."
It isn't that we want a proclamation of youth, it's just that it is a compliment, and anyone will smile at a compliment, anyone will feel good when complimented.
That's all. Compliments will bring out the best on even an ugly stranger!
So keep it up darlin, every one of us enjoys a compliment, we all feel better for it.

It's so funny, when you are young, you lie about your age to get into clubs, purchase alcohol and cigerettes, and to obtain pornography. But as you get much older you again lie about your age to mask your real physical age simply for personal pleasures. Down at hear we are all liars and we know it. So if someone says they are a certain age do not believe them. It's like nobody on the face of the planet is happy of their age. Lie to look older and lie to seem younger. Same Sh!t!!!

It's not that it is so important to look young, it's hard to get old! Many people are afraid of becoming elderly. You can view it in many ways, your halfway through life, your kids leave, you become a grandparent, you can retire! But to some it is so scary to get old, so looking and feeling younger makes them feel better about what is happening in there life.

It is for everyone, someone told my dad ( who is almost 51) that he looked about 40, and it made his day. I think if you look youngr than you really are, that it says that you take care of yourself well. Also, it is a complement to most because, no one really associates the phrase "you look old!" with "you are attractive!" That's my take on it, anyway.

Who wants to be told "Hey you look old for your age?" Looking young can be equated to being happy with the life you have, having little stress and looking beautiful, relative to this age group you were referring to.

In this country [USA] emphasis is on youth, looking and staying young. Just look at TV ads, magazines, etc. It is so superficial, it's all about how young a person looks.
