For one, he plays for the Clippers. The second reason is that he plays the game the way it was meant to be played.....with class. And classy players don't get the same credit as the ghetto ones.

Elton is mainly underrated due to the fact that he is not as flashy a player such as other power forwards like Garnett or Nowitzki. Brand just goes out and does his job night after night with very few highlights. In a way, his demeanor is similar to Tim Duncan's. They are both very quiet consistent players. The reason that Duncan is so respected is because his team has won championships. Elton plays in a major media market, but his team is always playing second fiddle to the Lakers and Kobe Bryant. Last year Elton got respect from the fans and the media while the Clippers were winning games. He was even on the list for candidates for the MVP for a while, but now that the Clippers are back to being the Clippers, Elton will be back to being underrated.

This has an easy answer! He plays for the Clippers. Same with players like Gasol on the Grizzlies, Randolph on the Blazers, Paul on the Hornets. They aren't on Brand's level but they are awesome and unknown to a lot of people. The team makes the difference and a lot of people turn a blind eye to the Clips, unfortunatly.

Elton is underrated b/c he plays in the western conference. There are way too many power forwards in the west who are that good (kevin garnett, tim duncan, dirk nowitzki). These guys have been in the league longer than Brand. Most basketball fans outside of L.A. know who these guys are. Elton Brand is a quality forward, and I think he will dethrone the rest of them in 2 years.

he got a lot of props last year as a near 25 and 10 guy and was on his way to getting plenty of recognition, but he got off to a slow start this year and the clippers have tanked the season away
the best way to get noticed is to be on a winning team, the clippers where held as a possible contender going into the season but have really underachieved and gone back to being well the clippers

because he is with the clippers and they dont get enough talk from the media. its always the lakers hogging the spotlight. put brand on the lakers or heat or the spurs or any elite team and he will get lots of love
