I would say yes. Although people with a higher education may notalways see it that way, those without can sometimes resent those who have one for several reasons. Firstly, people who do not have a higher education, even if the educated themselves do not feel this way, sometimes believe that more educated people think they are better. Some people really do believe that their education makes them "better," or at least "smarter" than others. Obviously, this is untrue, but there's a stigma associated with it. Also, people who have a higher education tend to be from middle or upper class families who can afford to foot the bill (or at least a good portion of it) to actually pay for said education. Again, resentment due to existing class differences. And lastly, higher education practically guarantees more job oportunities and higher pay. Again, resentment, this time due to the creation of further class differenciaton. Not to mention the resentment that can come from jealousy, if someone wishes they had that kind of education, that kind of money, that kind of job, etc.
However, this should by no means stop anyone from seeking an education. People rarely lose friends for this sole reason. If they are good friends, there should be no hard feelings. Socially, though, it is a pattern.

if it does, it can be from those who don't have the higher education. but i know some with a degree (sometimes 2) who have hard feelings towards those who dont AND have decent jobs. sometimes there's a sense of entitlement in the way.
education has always been a tool used to separate people. a case of haves and havenots.

No, I don't think it does. But, If it does, it's usually because the more highly educated person becomes arrogant and never misses an opportunity to lord their knowledge over someone else. I see it all the time in the medical field.

It shouldn't. Unless you are one of those people who claims to always be right just because you have 4 years of college, then that will definitely cause hard feelings.

Maybe for some, but your friends should be happy for you should you choose to improve yourself.
