Don't quote me but I think it depends on what kind of sever the site is on, but its generally not a good idea.

I believe no, other than the underscore. I'm almost positive that while the others cannot be used in URL addresses, an underscore can.

No. The Domain name should be standard alph-numeric characters. You often see things like http://www.netmorale.com/search.php?sword=adaware or something similar. The ? tells te server that data is being passed and the "swords=adaware" tells it that the data is the variable "swords" and the value of the variable should be "adaware".
