This is as bizarre as it is troubling. I've not realized how people don't understand grammer (er, grammar) or speling (er, spelling). I know the typing style is informal, but this is ridiculous. In the course or reading answers to, say, three questions, I can find over 30 different misspellings and another 16 grammatical screw-ups.

What are we doing wrong in America?

Knot inn the lease.

Seriously, on this site, it doesn't bother me, but in the professional world, it can mean the difference between getting ahead and getting the gate

I have noticed that a lot of participants are from other countries. English is likely their second or third language.
I hope that is a large part of the reason for all of the tortured English.
I know this phenomenon surprised the heck out me me when I joined yahoo answers!
There are some questions that I cannot make any sense of at all!

i imagine i will use ideal grammar and spelling. regardless of the indisputable fact that, different people ought to not attempt this for quite a number of motives: a million. they're too lazy to apply ideal spelling and grammar and prefer utilising chat acronyms etc. 2. They don’t understand the perfect grammar or spelling (both because they were asleep in school for all time or because they're non-natives who not in any respect discovered ideal English). 3. they could write each thing in ideal grammar and spelling, yet they could ought to imagine about each note for 5 minutes with the intention to finish that and are not prepared to spend the completed day in the front of their pc purely to ask this style of stupid question as "the position am i able to study eastern in one day?" and hence use incorrect grammar and spelling. i'm myself very a lot compared, yet what are we meant to do? The morons outnumber us. =D

We are doing everything wrong. Now, I admit that I usually don't use proper English online, but it is ridiculous how many people in this country can't spell correctly. I blame it on the vocabulary lists (or lack there of) in classes. they aren't challenging enough. nothing in our academics is.

What do you mean, 'nobody'? You can, I can.
Poor spelling and poor grammar skills are rife throughout the English-speaking world. It's in plague proportions. Horrendous.

Now it's time to criticize you....

"..I've not realized ..." (not ~> now)

"In the course or reading..." (or ~> of)

"... answers to, say, three questions, I can find over 30 different misspellings and another 16 grammatical screw-ups." (your extra, unneeded commas)

basically... hush!

Yes, it is troubling, especially since there is a spell check available. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one bothered.

It sure does, man! They totally ignore the "check spelling" feature before using the preview button ! What's up with that?

Blame the public educational system. I, as well as my seven brothers and sisters, attended Catholic school and all of us are excellent spellers and grammarians.

I think the problem is partly due to texting and partly due to spell check.
