For something trivial just a little spat, live and let live
For something I consider to be major, both eyes for an eye.......

The eye for an eye standard was done away with from the time of Jesus Christ... that was the Law of Moses.. but has been replaced with the forgiveness and forgetting .... or live and let live as you have put it! When we are told that revenge is wrong and we need to show more love and forgiveness, that is what it is all about! If someone has really done us wrong, then we should go to them and show them that we forgive them....
There is nothing that is worth any kind of revenge... or causing more trouble... just be the better person and let it all go! ;0)

I believe in an Eye for an Eye, but at my age if someone wronged me, i would turn the other cheek. Life is short

Hm. Well it would depend on the situation, the circumstances. If I were to retaliate though, I would go for the kill. Ruin a career or reputation. I would even assault somebody for certain trespasses. However, it takes a serious violation of my boundaries to encourage me to vengeance. Mostly I let it go, right along with the relationship to the trespasser.

Eye for eye for the government carrying out justice, as an individual person, turning the other cheek.

No, what if u accidentally poke some1's eye? Does that mean u have to get ur eye poked too. And what if someone blinds himself in one eye? Does he have to blind himself in the other eye too? But i agree with live and let live.

" If we subscribe to the belief of an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth, we would all be blind and toothless." Mahatma Gandhi
Works better if you say it in an Indian Voice
