hi, i have to do an 8-10 page research paper on an author of my choice and im not sure who to pick. i like funny stuff so i was hoping someone could give me the names of some authors who have alot of comedy in their novels. the author i pick has to have a biography or autobiography about them plus they have to have done 2 other books, which i will use in my paper. since i have to write 8-10 pages, i want to write about someone i find interesting. this is my last year in high school, and i wanna make this paper a good one. this is why im trying my best to make the right choice in who i pick. so if anyone knows of a good author could u please tell me who they are and what books u suggest i read. dont forget that they have to have a biography of them plus 2 things they have written. i like action adventure and romantic comedy but im not sure if i want to write about those. but if anyone knows any good authors who write those types of books please tell me. thanks alot i appreciate this.

Bill Bryson. Read his autobiography "Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid" and then two of his other books; I especially recommend "A Walk in the Woods" and "In a Sunburned Country." He is primarily a travel writer, but has also written a science book and a couple on the origin of languages. I love the way he writes because he's laugh-out-loud funny, yet you end up learning something in the process. I've read about five of his books, and plan to read them all. He is one of my favorite authors!

I'm not sure if this is usable, but how about Janet Evanovich? Her Stephanie Plum series is hysterically funny. The only catch is I haven't seen an biography or autobiography on her. However, she has written a book on writing called "How I Write" which might help out.

Other than that, Mark Twain is a good candidate. Or maybe Dave Barry, since most of his work is of the memoir/autobiographical kind.

Roald Dahl wouldn't be a bad choice. He wrote plenty of amusing children's and adults' fiction, as well as an autobiography, "Going Solo."
If I had to choose just two writings of his, I'd suggest reading "Matilda" and "My Uncle Oswald."

Well for the wittiest novels around you can't go past P D Wodehouse and his creation of "Wooster and Jeeves". He is a master of dialogue.

This may not be your cup of tea, and I don't know if there was ever a biogrpahy written about him (I imagine there would have been), but he is one of my literary heros

I would suggest Mark Twain.

He wrote fiction. He also wrote political satire. It would give you lots to expound upon in a paper.

It's P.G. (not P.D.) Woodhouse or Wodehouse, and here is a biography:
