All right Star Trek fans, got a quick question for you. When a starship is disabled in deep space, left without the ability to travel at warp speed, how is the ship returned to dry dock for repairs? Does another ship bring them a new warp core? If so, how is it transported, as ships cannot carry additional warp cores, and they certainly can't drag them at light speed to the damaged vessel. Warp Cores, as far as canon is concerned, cannot simply be built in damaged ship also.

In ST: Insurrection the Enterprise E ejected its core to seal the Son'a's subspace blast. but after is rescued Picard and emerged from the Briar Patch, reestablishing communication with Starfleet command, how did they get home without a core, as the Briar Patch is light years away from Earth or even the nearest starbase? In other words, how did they get a new core to them?

Kathryn Janeway is the ultimate Starship captain...

Impulse is out of the questions. It would take FOREVER just to travel one light year at impulse...

A star ship can be towed at warp speed they did it in star trek:next generation, star trek:enterprise and in deep space nine to tow a shuttle craft through the wormhole back to the station, All they did was extend their Shields around the other ship to stabilise it so they can travel at any warp speed.

Yes, Kathryn Janeway was a great captain.

another ship would have to tow it

Tomalok the Romulan Captain threatened to tow the Enterprises hull back home as a souvenier, this incident is mentioned in 2 episodes. There is also the episode when O'brian's old captain almost starts a war with the Romulans, Picard threatens to tow his ship back. Its alwasy mentioned matter of factly so it doesn't sound like it would be much trouble.

also theres the episode where the Ferengi bring Picard his old ship and try and kill him, I think they towed it there but I am not sure.

Here's a wild thought: could it be teleported somehow?

A massive transfer? Or perhaps something from the replicators?

(Just a thought, as I am not that deep into the show or its science)

I fancy myself Harcourt Fenton Mudd. while we see fictional characters, they are maximum generally archtypes. maximum everybody may well be a mix of a majority of those archtypes of their unquestionably personalities. So I do have a sprint Kirk in my head telling me what to do, I particularly have a Spock, and a Sulu, etc.
