the real shape depends on the size of the drop a drop will be round like a ball when it is less than 0.08 inches (2 mm). larger drops look like a lop sided American football.

It depends when you observe it. If it collides with something, it can be any shape.

If you observe it in the early stages, it would depend on where and from what it originates. It could be a sphere, a tear-drop shape, and any other shape upon impact.
