Travertine is a stone. Used for a lot of different things. It is not a marble nor limestone. You can not use it on a counter top. You could if you want to replace it in 10 years or have it absorb bacteria. It is porus. Which means can absorb. I am a tile guy. I've been doing tile for 8 years, my father has been for 25 years now. I've installed a lot of travertine in the last 8 years. You can install it on your floor in your home.
