my acne is not bad at all but my dermatologist immediately put me on accutane. my skin can even look flawless if i wear makeup. I use Clinique oil free. I really have no idea if i should, but i want to continue wearing makeup in order to hide that breakout that Accutane is know to cause. Or can anyone tell me about a compatible makeup or some moisturiser that will clear up the redness?

I have been on Accutane on and off, and in my case, I have never known it to cause more breakouts, as opposed to the topical form which is Retin-A. While on Accutane, the worst was that my skin became very dry, but this was immediately corrected by moisturizer, and the best one that I have tried is Visible Difference by Elizabeth Arden, or Dramatically Different Moisturizer by Clinique.

My dermatologist let me wear makeup throughout the entire time that I was taking Accutane, and by that I mean everything - foundation, translucent powder, eyeshadow, blush, etc, and it didn't make me breakout anymore than I had done before taking the drug. Just like you, I used Clinique products, I especially like Superfit foundation.

Hope that helps, good luck!

i wore my normal make-up while on accutane. however i did need to adjust my moisturizer as the accutane really dried my skin out. Accutane affects each person differently. I had extremely chapped lips (try blistex medicated) and the area around my nose and mouth were very dry and cracked. I had to buy a super moisture rich formula from clinique or from aveda.

beyond that you should be able to wear your normal make-up. My doctor did not give me any restrictions.

However, if you do any sort of waxing for your eyebrows, or upper lip. You may have to discontinue it until after you are done. my skin was so thin that i was peeling up too much skin and it was red and raw.

If you have acne, you should always use an oil free foundation like Clinique or whichever u prefer. You can definitly continue to use makeup while on accutane. I have been on it twice. Just make sure you use a good moisturizer before hand... every day and night because accutane can dry out your skin. Good luck.

You should check with your dermatologist on what type of makeup will be best for you. Ideally, choose one with at least an SPF 15 in it. Accutane, and most other acne medications will make you more likely to burn when exposed to sunlight.

I've used Bare Minerals for two years now, and it's been the best makeup that I've ever had. My dermatologist approves of this makeup.

That defeats the purpose of accutane.
