I think the driving age should be raised to 18. However, I think learning permits should be from 15-18. This gives the teen enough driving experience in a supervised environment.
As for dropping drinking to 18, not sure. Honestly, there are going to be underage kids that will drink no matter what the age is.
However, it is kind of lame that we have different 'legal' ages. Like at 18 you can vote, marry, join the military, go into porn stores, sign a contract, and are considered an adult. However, you can't drink and in some states can't own a handgun until you are 21.

I am fine with the drinking age, yet I do not believe in a driving age. I believe that the driving test should be EXTREMELY hard, but allow anyone to take it. Its not 16 yr drivers that make the roads dangerous its just the ones that don't know how to drive. Taking and passing the driving test last year I know just how easy it is. Pretty much the test is can you drive 3-5 mph under the speed limit for a ten minute period. WHAT A JOKE!

I believe the drinking age should stay at 21, and the driving age should be 18.
Ideally, drinking age should be 25. But that'll never happen, so I think 21 is a good compromise. I think 16 is very young and very immature to be on the road. I know when I was 16, I often didn't think of the consequences of some of my actions. Perhaps harder tests to pass before a license is issued?

No. I think drunk drivers kill and maim more people than anyone is willing to admit - 35% of car fatalities in the daytime, 52% on the weekends, and 77% in the late evening/early morning are caused by drunk drivers.
I agree with Joe. The legal drinking age should be the age at which one can no longer operate a vehicle. It should be a felony charge of up to at least a year in jail the first time anyone is caught drinking and driving. AT LEAST. Raising the age of car licensing isn't the problem. The problem lies in education and lawmakers. That alcohol is still the only true drug not "considered" a drug is tantamount to negligence. Since alcohol has a huge effect on the chemicals in our brain and make us "high" and dangerous it shouldn't be legal at all. Sure, there would be a black market, but it would still cut down the number of alcohol-related injuries and fatalities. Perhaps then the families of people killed by drunk drivers can have peace.
*I say this not only for those under 21, but those under 110.*

No on the drinking age! At 18 people are still very immature and do not make smart choices. I'm iffy on the driving age thing I really think it depends on the person, but at 18 would be better for most kids.

I didn't get my licence until I was 27!!!!
I think the whole putting people in age groups thing is a cop-out.
You have to be 21 to drink, 18 to buy a pack of smokes and 16 to drive?
At age 16 you could be one of those ( alot of them) reckless children that get into the car with your Friends and show off, get in an accident and kill someone.
but yet if you buy smokes you are only killing yourself.
I think if you are responsible (at least in lawmakers eyes) at 18 to be able to drive, smoke.....why not drink?
Makes sense, not necessarily what I would want to happen, but none the less......

In Australia the legal drinking age is still 18. I think it may be a good idea to change it to 21, but that is only beacuse so many people seem to neglect it and make stupid decisions like drink driving etc.
I think you should be able to still get your learners license early but they require you to hold it for a much longer period of time so you have much more experience before getting your provisional or full licence and harsh penalties should apply to all drivers who speed. (i dont mean a couple km over the speed) not just young drivers

Yes I believe the drinking age should be lowered. If one is old enough to vote, old enough to fight in a war and old enough to attend college then he or she should be able to consume alcoholic beverages legally. No I don't believe the driving age should be raised. I know studies indicate that teenage drivers have more accidents, but this is due to inexperience. Whether the driving age is 18 or 45, if you can't get experience unless you can drive. The only thing I could think that would work would be to raise the length of time one has a permit or introductory license, which a lot of states are doing.(I live in WV and we have a graduated driving system)
