As indicated, what are your Top 10 of a really good movie? Whether it's what makes you want to watch a movie, what you like seeing in a movie, what genre, anything!

1. A good story (its all about the story)
2. competent acting (accurate casting)
3. good director (not necessarily a flashy, big namer)
4. Belivable effects (effects that credit the story and dont over shadow it)
5. effective advertising (bad advertising can kill a film)
6. tasteful
6.1. no sex scenes - not necessary
6.2. not too much obscene language
7. No blasphemy (i hate that!)
8. if it is based on a book it should be true to the book within the constraints of time(eg LOTR)
9. must be atlease a little humour in it somewhere
10. an original ending

Things that make me decide whether or not to see a movie:

10. If the music in the trailer is good, I'll plan to see the movie
9. If it's an adaptation of a book I absolutely loved
8. Time Period. Sometimes you're just in the mood for a period piece, or a sci fi or a current time movie.
7. Could I stand to spend two hours of my life on this
6. Plot that I can't figure out all at once. Or at other times, a completely formulatic movie. Depends on my mood
5. Favorite actresses
4. Favorite actors
3. Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.
2. Great soundtrack
1. Good trailer

I am a movie nut but a lot of different things catch my eye... Here's my top 10 reasons.
1. Good actor or actress
2. Not a lot of foul language (I have 5 children)
3. Not to gory but a lot of suspense
4. Pretty scenery
5. Truth or based on real facts
6. Movies where it makes you feel like crying for a good reason.
7. Happy endings
8. Nothing to do with destruction of mankind
9. No movies about ex-presidents
10. I really dislike movies about the end of the world

1. Sex (refer to #2)
2. Nudity (refer to #8)
3. Humour (Stupid kinda humour, eg dumb and dumber) "pull over... pull over" says the cop on the bike. "Its a cardigan, but thanks for noticing" says Lloyd. HA! classic
4. Violence (nothing to out there, sorta like saw, and texas chainsaw massacre)
5. Action (Explosions, stunts etc.. James bond sorta stuff)
6. Hardcore Action (eg HEAT, Resorvoir dogs)
7. Soundtrack (Needs good tunes from start to finish)
8. Good looking people (Hey I live in reality, doesnt mean I have to watch it too)
9. A really awesome twist (Something that leaves you thiking about it for weeks. eg fight club)
10. Doesn't drag on too long... (Thankyou TITANIC director... make me sit through all that!)

no cheesy stunts
no bad acting (ashton kutcher)
mild sexy scenes
ton of drinking
happy ending

Sounds like old partying days.
