One time some guy stepped on me and it felt as though my toe nail snapped off , but ofcourse it didn't. Then the days after, i would feel as if i had splinters in the skin or somethign. But I don't.

Well forward 2 years later and i feel kind of limited because whenever i do exercise barefoot, if i do light running or jumping and the ball of the foot hits the ground, i feel the thorn-like-sensation.

Any clues as to what this might be? Something happened with my skin right? but i tell ya, it's weird

It may be that you have a callous on the ball of your foot. I have one on each foot and they are very painful. You can buy insteps at the pharmacy that will help relieve pressure to the ball of the foot and they help a lot.

Maybe you have a splinter embeaded in your foot. I once chased a kid down while barefooted to be his a_ss and while I was running I got a small rock embeaded in my heal. I had sort of the same problem as you do. One year later, I grabbed a small sewing needle and started poking at it and it sounded as though I was poking a rock in there. I wedged it out and felt much better after that. Back to my one year ago self. It was wonderful. It was also quite a story to tell for years afterwards

I would say that you could possibly have either bone chips or bone spurs. Both would cause the sensation that you described. It's doubtful that this is skin related. The skin would show some kind of irritation, and I think you would have noticed this. I'm thinking this is more internal.

My advice to you is to make an appointment with a podiatrist, have them x-ray your foot, and see what's going on inside. Usually once they remove either bone chips or spurs, you will be extremely pleased with the results.

Best wishes to you.

Sounds like you might have a pinched nerve, or a little nerve damage near where you got stepped on... I get a similar sensation on the fore part of my feet (just below the toes) sometimes. Don't know it there's anything you can do about it. If it's REALLY bothering you, go to a podiatrist & have it checked out. And you're right, -it DOES feel weird...

sounds like dry skin and in that area of the foot, it will be "tougher" than normal skin. therefore it doesn't peel or flake, instead it splinters. apply lotion 3-4 times a day to soften this area up, then buy a scraper type thing and remove the skin.

I believe you have what is called a "spur", best way to handle would be to see a podiatrist. Feel better!
