Vene zuela is acctually a country and it is on the top of South america to the right of colombia.

Because the only latin american country that most Americans know about is Mexico. So everytime you mention a place that sounds even remotely spanish, they instantly assume it's in Mexico. American's don't really look down south too much...
Thankfully, though, each day more and more Americans are starting to be aware of Venezuela as a country, (unfortunately thanks to Mr. Chavez...) There are six Venezuelans in my class and in my whole school there are about 15-18.

Most of the people on this site could not tell you where the
states are located in these United States (or their capitals),
let alone where Venezuela is. Ask them to name all the
South American countries. That will be fun to watch.

A lot of people have a lack of cultural knowledge, specially in geography, history and other subjects that when in school are boring, northeless never care enought to learn.

That is why our education system is degrading in this country. Everyone wants convenience at their fingertips. No one wants to actually get to a public library and read anymore.
