I'm trying to make some extra cash on top of my full time job so I can go travelling next year and also think learning the ropes on working behind a bar will help me out for job to get by when I'm also travelling, The Pub that is down the road from me has put an advertisement out seeking people to work behind the bar and no experience is needed we just have to send them a cover letter via email to apply for the job, What should I write in the cover letter if i have no experience bartending at all? I have only worked in an office environment, any helpful advice on what I should state in the cover letter would be VERY Appreciated... has anyone here had to submit anything similair?? and did or do you enjoy bar work?

no it's not a strip bar... wouldn't put the poor guys through the truma.. It's just a regular bar with a more nightclub feel to it.. and i'll just be pouring drinks..

This doesn't make any sense. If the bar is busy and popular they will want experience unless your a very attractive female to share space with the bartenders that know what they are doing.

A busy bar requires knowledge and speed to serve their customers. When you say no experience needed to "work behind the bar" you could be applying for a "bar back" job. Not bartender, just the person who lugs the ice, empties the garbage, stocks barware, cleans up, etc. It's a start to get your foot in the door if you can get it.

I have submitted resumes for bartending jobs before. They are looking for responsible people, willing to work hard and be personable with the guests.

I have worked as a bartender for over 7 years. It's a great job. Nothing in the world comes easy. The people that prove themselves get the good shifts. It's experience, seniority, and knowledge. If your attractive that will help, but they usually want attractive women that know what they are doing. I've worked with a few that were great and some that were terrible. The terrible ones don't last.

What does a bartender do?
How do your previous skills fit?

Did you ever serve food?
Do you know how to make drinks? Specialty drink?
How are you at handling troubling situations?
Why do you want the job?

Of course, naturally, what makes you stand out from everybody else applying for the position?

I'd just put a picture of your rack. That should get you a job at a bar.
