If his fever is high, you can alternate Tylenol and Motrin. Motrin is a little stronger, and does a better job at breaking the fever. There are some cough medicines that are safe for his age, but you will have to get the dosage from your doctor, as they do not print dosages for under 2 years old on the package. Johnson and Johnson makes a eucalyptus lotion and bubble bath that works kind of like Vick's for babies that age. That may help with the cough some. Plenty of liquids including Popsicles and jello. Lots of patience and love. Also, if the fever is high, you can give him a bath. Start out comfortably warm, and then add cool water every couple of minutes. Make sure to thoroughly wet areas such as the neck, under arms and groin to help cool him off. Then dress in a t-shirt and underpants, and cover with a light blanket or sheet. Hope that helps :)

keep a very close eye on the fever. If it gets too high make sure to call the doctor or go to the ER. For a cough, a humidifier in his room where he sleeps can help. Or take him into a steamy bathroom for a few minutes. You should also call his doctor. The doc would know your baby's specific medical history and if this fever and cough could be dangerous. Good luck and I'm sure he'll be better soon.
Also be carefull not to give him too much tylenol becuase it could cause liver damage. If you've already given tylenol just make sure you don't also give another medicine that also contains accedaminofin.

First, talk to your pediatrician. Take the baby's temperature, every half hour. If he is feverish, cool compresses on the fore head are fine. Keep your baby warm but comfortable. No clingy clothing. Give him cool, not cold, water and do that after every fever check. If his temp doesn't go down within 16 to 24 hours, call the doctor. Don't give the baby anything OTC unless directed by the doctor. It's very easy to poison a child. You don't want to give your baby another problem.
Warm soaks with mint oil in the water will help clear the congestion in his chest. If he starts to cough up mucus or won't hold down food or water, take him to the emergency room. Just watch him and be prepared for a sleepless night. Watch for diarrhea cause that's a sign of dehydration. Also pay attention to any discoloring on his chest or back. Or any rashes that might develop.
Keep him close to you but give him his space. Make sure you talk to him calmly or hum or read to him. it will help him and you feel better. Also put a small bit of vicks vapor rub on the end of his neck. God Bless.

Childrens Motrin works better for some kids on Fevers. You can give him Pediacare cold and Cough. If the cough is bad, especially at night, call your pediatrician, she can call the pharmacy for you and prescribe a cough medicine for him or at least tell you which one to use. You can give him a warm vapor bath. And put a humidifier in the room. You can also rub some johnsons vapor rub on his chest, which will also help the cough. And of course the most important Lots of Love

Your ped will probably agree that can give Children's Motrin for the fever. You can let him sleep in only a diaper so as to help his body temp come down. I have used a cool air humidifier in the room to help loosen a dry cough. If the cough sounds wet like you can hear the mucus in his throat that is good in that it is a productive cough and his body is working to clear out all the phlegm. Hope he feels better soon

My son is 13 months and he had a bad cough last week. I gave my son motrin since I find it works better, plus it helps him sleep compared to using Tylenol. You should definitely make an appt w/the pediatrician. My son wound up having an ear infection that started after the cough and he had to be placed on an antibiotic. I know what you are going through. My son is my 1st baby as well. In a few days your baby will be okay :-) It is just this crazy weather which is getting us all sick. Make sure you take care of yourself as well.

If the cough is bad and his fever is not responding to tylenol please see your doctor right away. There are some nasty viruses going around this winter that can turn dangerous very quickly.
