I am trying to connect my laptop to the broadband modem from roadrunner, it shows connection in the bar but I can make explorer to connect to the web,

It should connect However you need the drivers to tell the computer that the internet is in the usb...

Check the website for the modem for the drivers for your operating system.

Its better and easier to connect with a RJ45 cable (ethernet cable).... and a network card.. ( you can get one used for 15 - 20 bucks..)

Yes. Whether your usb is v1.1 or v2. In fact, I'm using a netgear usb adapter right now, and the router is a floor above. Just make sure you have the adapter's driver/s loaded. That might be your problem.

do you have a wireless router? if you have a wireless router, it will pick up your wireless adapter's signal automatically, giving you broadband internet access.
