I'm sure that it is, but after entering all my info, they wanted to know my social security #. This is a red flag to me. This site is advertised all over the tv and radio and web. It seems as though people use it nationwide. I'm not actually applying for a job, just looking for leads. Why do they need my SSN?

I have never been asked my ssn by monster; nor would I ever give it. Are you sure you are on monster.com? It's a great site and has kept me in the money for many years.

They are safe but I've never heard of them asking for a social security number. You might want to report it to them. There should be a contact number on their site.

There's no reason why they should need your SS#.

For identification. It helps them to know that you are who you say that you are. Your SSAN is going to be asked for by a lot of people who do have a need to know, if for no other reason that for their protection.
Yes, Monster.com is safe.

Don't give them your SSN.

Even though Monster.com is a reputable company, the bottom line is ... they don't need it.
