Be cautious- there are a LOT of people out there who are not who they say they are. The Net can be informative, fun and a complete waste of time. Don't pay for anything. Don't send anyone money. There is no such thing as FREE anything- it may be as simple as putting up with some obnoxious ads, but there will be a cost of some sort. Be particular who you give your E-mail address to. You'll end up with all kinds of junk and some of it is just plain ugly. Everything you type, every site you visit is on record. Even deleting does not erase it completely.
Do NOT give out personal information like your real name, address, phone etc unless you have to. Just use E-mail. There are a lot of freaks, weirdos and criminals who live on the web, preying and praying for naive' young 'uns.
There's a whole different language when you chat- like short hand -most people will be happy to translate.
I learned a lot from POGO.com it is actually a free game site with chat if you put up with the ads- or you can be "special" and pay like 30 bucks a year - I play for free.
There are no FREE lap tops, PS2s, vacations, meals...
When you check E-mail, If you don't know who it's from- DO NOT OPEN IT. Check it as spam (unwanted - unknown- didn't ask for it) It could link you up to a bunch o' crap you don't want flashing on your screen or it could lead to a virus which will destroy your computer.
Use SPELL CHECK- it's free and you'll look way smarter.
When you click on something you don't want, just hit back space and it'll take you back to where you were.
You can have a lot of fun and learn bunches, but just use your head. I've learned all this thru trial and error- except the young un's part.
Don't be embarassed to ask. Be safe. Be blessed.
This isn't spell checked because it wouldn't do it- oh well. Some days are diamonds...

Most people use Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape to get on the internet. You don't need classes to do that. Since you were able to ask the question you obviously have access to the Internet. If you type in the name of a web site and it doesn't come up, you made a typing error.
One of the best things you can do is go to www.google.com. There you can type anything you want into their search box and you will get the best match there is.

Well, I sent you an instant message and you stated that you were 23 years old. I recommend that you go to www.google.com or even better www.dogpile.com . Those are two of the better search engine sites. You can search on those sites for anything that interests you. The programs will find related information for you.

You might try going to
www.amazon.com
Look for books, then click the link for used books.
There are many books on the internet. The "Internet for Dummies" series are nice because they give a lot of information along with a little humor which makes them almost fun to read.
I have purchased many used books here and all I have received so far are in new or like new condition.
You can check out this link to see if anything interests you.

Be careful how much information you give when on the internet.
