Especially in the early stages? Or is it more dangerous to start bleeding later on?

I have read up on how many women claim they had their "periods" throughout their entire pregnancy. HOW CAN THAT BE POSSIBLE?

perhaps they are confusing their "period" with slight spotting/light bleeding?

Please help!

If you are pregnant its not called a period when you bleed. Its breakthrough bleeding, implantation spotting, or what some refer to as "first trimester bleeding". Most women associate any vaginal bleeding with their period.

If you are pregnant bleeding you need to see a doctor right away as there may be something wrong. Bleeding during pregnancy does not always end in miscarriage. About half of all women who bleed during pregnancy will miscarry, the other half will not. 25% of all women will experience bleeding during pregnancy at some point.

Well, it's not actually a period if you are bleeding during pregnancy. Women bleed for different reasons. For example: miscarriage will cause heavy bleeding and blood clots, placenta previa (low-lying placenta) will cause bright red bleeding, placental abruption can also cause heavy bleeding, a blood clot in the uterus, cervix, or under the placenta will cause bleeding, brown spotting may indicate an ectopic (tubal) pregnancy, and spotting after sex is common. It is not considered okay or normal to bleed during pregnancy, though there are many women who will experience bleeding for no apparent reason. I'm 23 weeks w/ #2 and had bleeding at about 12 weeks gestation and doctors thought I was going to have a miscarriage. Turns out, I was pregnant w/ twins and miscarried one of them. Hope this helps clarify reasons for bleeding during pregnancy.
