I am only 21 and was looking at my old elementary school class pictures and there were only 1 or 2 fat kids in my class. A couple weeks ago I was looking at my 8 year old cousin's year book and atleast 1/3 of the kids in each grade are overweight. Is this common throughout North America or is just my community???

Well I don't know about all of North America, but i do know that it's happening the U.S. It's due to the fact that many schools no longer have recess and have P.E. a couple times a week. Also, schools are not feeding the kids healthy foods. Then take in the fact that there is not a lot of playgrounds anymore because "they are too dangerous." Now I'm the same age as you and I don't remember the playground being dangerous. The last factor is that when kids go home, instead of going to the playground (because there isn't one) they stay home, sit on their butts, and watch TV, play games, and eat. I know in my city, a lot of kids are childhood diabetes due to being overweight.
