Mostly, when I think of Louisiana, I think of New Orleans, and now of Katrina. I've driven through the state but not spent much actual time in it. All of the people I've met from Louisiana have been smart, gregarious people with big personalities and a love of good food. :)

With all of the information available since Katrina... any stereotype I may have had has been all but eliminated. I would have to say my current mental image is that Louisiana folks are spirited, have a unique warm southern accent, and fond of cajun or community traditions.

I always loved hearing about the cajun culture.
After Katrina all you hear about is the criminal element wanting hand outs and the sleezy politicians wasting the money that was sent to them to rebuild.
I hope Louisiana recovers as a place, even more so that they can recover from the bad image and reputation some people have given it.

I'm from Ohio but lived in Louisiana from December 2002-December 2005, in New Orleans specifically. I found the people there to be laid back, warm hearted, and joyful. I loved living there and given the opportunity I'd move back. My twin girls were born in New Orleans and they will be brought up to love life, food and the Bayou culture.

i know why you are asking becasue I live in Texas and we were seriously overrun with people coming from LA. I've been there, i love it. it's fun and the culture is great, but unfortunately the few who decided to come over here and mooch our economy, take our jobs, abuse the red cross system by making false claims and commit crimes have given people the wrong idea about people from LA. in general. It's not fair, but it's true. THe crime rate in texas has become a lot worse since katrina, an apt in my complex was broken into by refugees looking for a place to stay

I think they are great kind people. With the southern hospitality and kindness in them. I also think there are a fair share of them that are mean and rude and angry at everything. But the majority of them are great. My soon-to-be next door neighbors are from Louisiana and a teacher at my school is also fromm Louisiana.

I think they are folks for Louisiana ... why ? Am I suppose to think differently of them than people from the other 49 states. Everyone is equal in my book .. Trying to understand your point.

I'm from NC and I have friends in Louisiana. I love them dearly. They are such good southern souls. I love to hear them talk about their home state. I hope to visit there sometime soon.
