I went to see a game when the patriots played dallas in australia but was reaally unimpressed by the go slow tactics on display. from memory the game went for 4 1/2 hours but there was only a hour of actual gameplay. i think they should speed it up heaps and bring an element of fitness into the game

well, I think your memory is a little fuzzy. The game was probably around 3 hours, not 4 1/2. and 2 1/2 to 3 hours is a typical length for any major spectator sport.

"Element of Fitness"?

You don't think that getting hit by a couple of guys that weigh around 350 each an "element of fitness"?

An NFL game goes so long due to the plays - it is a battle, and they each have their battle plan. They have to set up in their formations, and hope they can get the ball past the other guys and into the endzone.

And besides, anyone that has done any sort of athletic work will tell you - it is much easier to just keep going than to go and stop all the time. And the other thing - those guys are in a few pounds of pads, and in uniforms made of not breathable fabrics. They are warm, and they are weighed down. And sometimes, they are hit by a few thousand pounds of pressure moving in the opposite direction of their momentum.

Yeah, I think there is a lot of "element of fitness". It isn't a game for everyone. I don't like soccer because I see it as boring. Doesn't mean that they don't work their butts off on the field, and they aren't physically fit. It's just a game I don't really get, and I don't really enjoy watching. I think it is right up there with watching grass grow and paint dry. Nothing against the sport - I just don't really get it. Maybe American Football isn't the game for you to watch.

You need to get your facts straight. These teams did not play in Australia. We like the game to be long, after all we pay high prices for the seats. I doubt that any game goes on for 4 1/2 hours.

i remember when football took about four hours to play. with timeouts and quarters and half time. but they have shortened game play, some say because women complained about it taking so long. it take around two and a half hours now. what they should have shortened was baseball. now there is a boring game....

oh yea, so who won?

Easy there SOCCER boy!! Go to the soccer forum and see who can bring an "element of jogging" to your game, or maybe an "element of falling down and acting hurt".
